Run-Speed Workshop: A Human Locomotion Clinic

Hosted by Joel Smith

Are you interested in not only being a better runner, but tuning in with the way your body is designed to move?

Running is a staple movement, be it for sports (sprinting), 5k’s and marathons, difficult workouts, or simply to be outside moving in nature. Typical running drills and exercises are based “externally”.

Do these drills. Hold your hands here. Run with this technique.

Some of these may be helpful, but as a total concept, do not represent how we learned to move as humans. It’s not how we are wired to move, run, or ultimately train.

This morning workshop will cover a multi-layered approach to:

  • How humans learn movement + The real core of technique training
  • The backing strength and movement qualities to run (and sprint) effectively
  • The critical role of rhythm and breath patterning as gateways to improved times and a more embodied running practice
  • How to use running, or sprinting, as a method to balance the body (and mind)
  • How to rethink running and sprint drills, in light of actual running technique

This clinic is not exclusive to athletes, hobby runners, or cross-fitters, but is for anybody who wants to run and move better while learning about their body in the process. I guarantee this workshop allows you to reimagine what is possible in your running and sport movement practice.
